High Commissioner to Solomon Islands

Jeffrey Roach

Mr Roach is a senior career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and most recently led the Government's initiatives on the Tuvalu-Australia Falepili Union and the Nauru-Australia Treaty as Assistant Secretary in the Office of the Pacific.

He has previously served overseas as High Commissioner to Vanuatu and Deputy Head of Mission for the Australian Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Geneva. He has also held postings in France and Laos.

Mr Roach received a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for his work in the crisis response to the 2002 Bali bombings, and a Humanitarian Overseas Service Medal for leading the Government’s Crisis Response Team to Nepal in the aftermath of the 2015 earthquake.  He also led the Crisis Response Team to Niger and Burkina Faso in 2016 following the kidnapping of two Australian citizens.

Mr Roach holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne and a Masters of International Relations from Monash University. He speaks Solomon Islands Pijin, French and Bislama.
