Mr Bernard Lynch

Mr Lynch is a career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and was most recently Australia’s Ambassador to Jordan.

In Canberra, he has served in diverse roles across DFAT and other Federal Government agencies. Past overseas postings include Saudi Arabia, Timor-Leste, Indonesia and Iran.

Mr Lynch holds a Master of Arts (Strategic Studies) from Deakin University through the Australian Defence College’s Centre for Defence and Strategic Studies. He also has Masters’ degrees in Commerce, International Law and Middle Eastern Studies from the Australian National University, along with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Japanese Studies from the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies. He speaks Japanese, Persian, Indonesian and Arabic.
