Mr Damien Donavan

Mr Donavan is a career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and was most recently Director, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Maldives Section. He has previously served overseas in the United States and Brunei Darussalam, and as an Australian Civilian Representative in Afghanistan. Before joining DFAT, Mr Donavan served in the Royal Australian Air Force as an air traffic controller and operations officer – he has completed more than thirty years in a combination of full time and reserve service.

He holds a Master of Business Administration from Deakin University; a Master of Philosophy, a Master of Strategy and Policy, a Master of Engineering Science and a Bachelor of Technology (Aeronautical Engineering) from the University of New South Wales; a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Australia, with honours in international relations from Adelaide University.
