The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) intends to approach the market for a Contractor to construct up to 22 high-set dwellings and a 7-bed short stay building on Daru Island, Western Province, Papua New Guinea (PNG) under the Strategic Health Infrastructure (SHI) program.
The SHI Program is an AUD90 million Australian Government investment funded through the Papua New Guinea-Australia Partnership. The SHI program aims to design and deliver high-quality, resilient, and universally accessible health infrastructure projects whilst adhering to Australia’s safeguarding policies and development effectiveness guidelines. The anticipated procurement - the Daru Hospital Staff Housing Project (DHSP) – is one of two projects under the SHI Program.
It is anticipated that DFAT will approach the market with a Request for Tender (RFT) in quarter 4 of 2026 as part of a one-step procurement process. DFAT will hold an industry briefing during the RFT period.
The proposed procurement will be published on AusTender, and updates on its status can be found on the Development Procurement Pipeline.
