Australia Solomon Islands Partnership in Justice (ASIPJ) – 2021 – 2026
Australia is committed to stepped-up engagement for a more resilient Pacific. A stable, prosperous, peaceful and resilient Solomon Islands is critical to Australia's interests. We are Solomon Island's largest development partner; its main partner on economic and human development; and its most active supporter in helping it respond to the COVID-19 crisis.
The new Australia Solomon Islands Partnership in Justice (ASIPJ) is expected to be up to $40 million over five years (2021-2026). This program will support Solomon Islands to deliver ongoing stability, security, resilience and prosperity.
It is anticipated that ASIPJ will support the Solomon Islands Government to strengthen the national judiciary, legislative capacity, access to justice and correctional services, as stated in the Australia's COVID-19 development strategy, Partnerships for Recovery. This program will build on the progress and lessons learned from the current Solomon Islands Justice Program 2017-2021 and its predecessors implemented under the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands.
DFAT anticipates undertaking a parallel procurement process for this program with the release of an initial expression of interest in February 2021. Short-listed managing contractors will be asked to tender in April/May 2021. Contracting and mobilisation is expected to occur in June 2021, when the design of the ASIPJ will be finalised.
