Australian Government Link at Supply Nation’s Connect 2018

22-23 May 2018

To recognise DFAT's commitment to strengthening economic rights for Indigenous peoples', implementation of the Commonwealth Indigenous Procurement Policy, and better engagement with Indigenous businesses for trade, aid and foreign policy outcomes, we have joined forces with the Department of Prime Minister & Cabinet, Department of Defence, Austrade and Indigenous Business Australia, to host an 'Australian Government Link' at Supply Nation's Connect 2018 (22-23 May 2018).

Connect 2018 is recognised for sharing international best practice for growing an inclusive economy, opportunities for Indigenous businesses to showcase their businesses and for celebrating the best in Australian Indigenous supplier diversity.

Since 2011, DFAT has engaged over 125 Indigenous businesses, in over 200 contracts, valued at over $25 million and has voluntarily expanded the application of the Indigenous Procurement Policy to all procurements between $10,000 and $200,000, creating more potential business opportunities for indigenous entities. From 1 July 2018, DFAT will further expand the application of the policy, to be a component of major aid procurements.

DFAT's achievements have been recognised by Supply Nation in its nomination for 'Government Supplier of the Year' award.
