Fifth Round of Pacific Alliance Free Trade Agreement negotiations

7 August 2018

The fifth round of Pacific Alliance Free Trade Agreement negotiations was hosted by Mexico in Mexico City from 7 to 13 July 2018. Minister Ciobo attended the Pacific Alliance Summit on 22 – 23 July in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. At the summit Ministers reaffirmed a shared commitment to conclude Pacific Alliance FTA negotiations by the end of the year. Negotiations included representatives from a range of Australian Government agencies. The sixth round will be held in New Zealand from 22 to 28 September 2018.


Fourth Round of Pacific Alliance Free Trade Agreement negotiations

The fourth round of Pacific Alliance Free Trade Agreement negotiations was hosted by Canada in Ottawa from 12 to 18 May 2018. Negotiations included representatives from a range of Australian Government agencies. The fifth round will be held in Mexico from 8 to 13 July 2018.


Third Round of Pacific Alliance Free Trade Agreement negotiations

The third round of Pacific Alliance Free Trade Agreement negotiations was hosted by Chile in Santiago from 3 to 9 March 2018. Negotiations included representatives from a range of Australian Government agencies.


Second Round of Pacific Alliance Free Trade Agreement negotiations

5 February 2018

Australia hosted the second round of Pacific Alliance Free Trade Agreement negotiations on the Gold Coast from 29 January to 2 February 2018. Negotiations included representatives from a range of Australian Government agencies.

First Round of Pacific Alliance Free Trade Agreement negotiations

27 October 2017

The first round of negotiations was hosted by Colombia in Cali from 23-27 October 2017. The Australian delegation was led by DFAT and included representatives from the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources, the Department of Finance, the Department of Immigration and Border Protection, and the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science.


Launch of Pacific Alliance Free Trade Agreement negotiations

1 July 2017

On 30 June, Minister Ciobo launched negotiations with his Pacific Alliance counterparts:

  • Chilean Minister of Foreign Affairs, Heraldo Muñoz Valenzuela;
  • Colombian Minister for Trade, Industry and Tourism, Maria Claudia Lacouture;
  • Mexican Minister for the Economy, Ildefonso Guajardo Villarreal;
  • Peruvian Minister for Foreign Trade and Tourism, Eduardo Ferreyros Kuppers.
