Eighth Round of Negotiations 1-3 July 2015

The eighth round of Australia-India Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA) negotiations took place in New Delhi on 1-3 July 2015. At the round, comprehensive discussions were held across all areas of the negotiations with both sides aiming to conclude a balanced and mutually beneficial agreement by the end of 2015.

The eighth round covered key issues including market access for goods, services and investment and chapters on services, investment, trade in goods, rules of origin; customs procedures and trade facilitation; technical barriers to trade; sanitary and phytosanitary measures, economic cooperation and legal and institutional issues.

Negotiations are continuing and it is expected the ninth round will be held in late August, 2015 with dates to be set at a mutually convenient time.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade strongly encourages interested parties to lodge or update submissions on the Australia-India Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement.
