APEC and Latin America (ALM)

Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) is a forum of 21 Asia-Pacific economies. APEC's member economies are home to around 3 billion people and make up almost 60 per cent of global GDP.

Australia and Uruguay established diplomatic relations in 1948.

Australia and Paraguay established diplomatic relations in 1974.

Australia and Mexico established diplomatic relations in 1966. Australia has an Embassy in Mexico City and a Consulate in Cancún.

A large and growing source of international students in Australia, we share common interests in the rules and institutions that help promote growth and security.

Australia and Chile established diplomatic relations in 1945, and Australia opened a diplomatic legation in Santiago in 1946. In 1968, Australia upgraded to an embassy in Chile, a move reciprocated by Chile in 1969.

Australia and Brazil cooperate on a range of issues of mutual interest. People-to-people links are growing rapidly, with Brazilians now forming the largest migrant group from Latin America resident in Australia.

Australia and Peru formally established diplomatic relations in 1963. Australia has an Embassy in Lima and an Honorary-Consul in Cusco.
