Project summary

Priority area: Education
Flagship program: International Speakers Program
Country location: Australia, Saudi Arabia
Grantee: Federation University Australia

Federation University Faculty of Health have distinct expertise in nursing and allied health that is underpinned by internationally excellent teaching quality. Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Humanitarian City in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, is a non-profitable rehabilitation hospital with a commitment to bench-marking against the highest international standards. Both have a shared emphasis on the development of nurse/allied-health care workers for the advancement of patient care.

This project sets out to raise cross-cultural awareness between institutions and involves the hosting of "best-practice' and leadership building in healthcare" educational sessions at Federation University, with reciprocal 'evidence based practice' in the city of Riyadh in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In collaboration with colleagues from the Council for Australian-Arab Relations (CAAR), project partners are hopeful of expansion and are planning for project sustainability using a "train the trainer" approach and formalising student/educator exchange opportunities.
