Bilateral education in sciences in Japan and Australia

Project summary

The University of Tasmania and the University of Tsukuba have a strong relationship and use the New Colombo Plan to good effect. However, there is no mechanism to involve senior high school students from each country to experience education in the sciences related to the other country. This proposal will involve a lecture series to selected "science specialist" high schools in Japan receiving science lectures from three UTas academics and some months later two UTas scientists giving lectures to selected high schools in Hobart. In both countries teacher training educators will also be involved and will have workshops with the visiting scientists to learn about the methods of science education in the other country.
