Media release from the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade
Higher metal ores and minerals prices contributed to an improved
resources sector performance in the June quarter 2006, with
minerals and fuels exports up five per cent in value to $17.4
billion. A strong rise in metal alloy prices also boosted
manufactures exports (up five per cent) with exports of metals up
14 per cent during the June quarter 2006.
Overall, the value of Australia's exports of goods and
services rose to $51.3 billion in June quarter 2006, a six per cent
rise in seasonally adjusted terms. In the 2005-06 financial year
exports were 17 per cent higher at over $190 billion.
The export results are contained in the Spring 2006 issue of Trade Topics: A Quarterly Review of Australia's
