Media Release

The Council on Australia Latin America Relations (COALAR) will support 16 projects for 2015–2016, following a strong expression of interest from within Australia and Latin America.

The projects selected demonstrate the great potential for the development of long-term collaboration and cooperation between individuals and institutions within Australia and the countries of Latin America.

These projects include training in sustainable construction in Argentina and Uruguay, conservation of heritage documents in Havana City Council and an interactive theatre production as part of the Australia now Brazil 2016 cultural program. In particular Australia's engagement with Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay will be enhanced by this year's grant program.

The grants program for 2016–2017 will open in February 2016. More information about successful grant recipients and the grants program can be found on the COALAR website.

COALAR was established in 2001 by the Federal Government to enhance Australia's economic, political and social relations with Latin America.
