The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade welcomes the
opportunity to participate in a new executive search pilot program
to locate suitably qualified women for its boards and
foundations.

The department is one of four public sector agencies
participating in the program. Under the program, the Department will
provide the Office of Status of Women with details of forthcoming
vacancies at board levels and provide relevant selection
criteria.

OSW has engaged consultants Profile Ray and Berndtson to conduct
the nation wide search and locate three or four suitable candidates
for vacancies as they arise for consideration by boards.

The Office of the Status of Women will also provide the Department
with lists of suitable women from a range of sectors and states and
territories six months before vacancies arise, so that they can also
be considered.

"We are hopeful the program will locate quality candidates from a
range of sectors, " said Ms Ruth Pearce, First Assistant Secretary of
the Department's Corporate Management Division.

"The right mix of skills and experience is not always easy to
find, so we welcome the opportunity to expand the pool of expertise
available to us."
