The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade today opened an INTERNET website that
provides an overview of Australia's approach to the international climate change
negotiations.
It is a comprehensive collection of documents, speeches, statements and submissions.
The website itself is easy to navigate and expansive, listing several other key related
Government websites. The contents will be updated regularly.
The website further complements Government efforts to inform the Australian public of
all the issues involved in the negotiations, and the implications of possible outcomes for
the Australian economy.
The information should be of considerable interest to a wide audience covering State,
Territory and local governments, business, NGOs, community groups and the media.
Detailed presentations on Australia's position were given by the Minister for Foreign
Affairs, Mr Downer, and Deputy Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade,
Mr Peter Grey, in speeches at the Melbourne Business School last week. The texts of both
these speeches can be found on the website.
