The Australia - Thailand Institute (ATI) today announced details of a new grants program to help promote bilateral relations between our two countries.

The ATI was established in June this year to promote our bilateral relationship and expand institutional, cultural and people-to-people links. Headed by former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Mr Tim Fischer AC, the ATI Executive Committee held its inaugural meeting in Canberra on August 15.

The Executive Committee is now calling for funding applications for projects which aim to build community links between Australia and Thailand, particularly in regards to public policy, health, culture and the arts. Project proposals which already have or are likely to attract partner funding from other sources, including commercial sponsorship, will be favourably considered.

The closing date for applications for the first funding round is Friday 14 October 2005. Applications received by this date will be considered by the Institute's Executive Committee at its next meeting in November.

Application packs are available from the ATI website . Further information may also be obtained from the ATI Secretariat on 02 6261 3964 or by email on austhailand.institute@dfat.gov.au.
