Australia and sanctions

Central African Republic

On 12 September 2019, the United Nations Security Council adopted Resolution 2488 which adjusts elements of the arms embargo and sanction measures for the Central African Republic (CAR). Under Resolution 2488, some of the arms embargo exemptions have been modified to require advance notification of a proposed supply to the CAR Sanctions Committee instead of advance approval.

The Charter of the United Nations (Sanctions–Central African Republic) 2014 will be updated accordingly to reflect these changes.
