Australia and Haiti established diplomatic relations in 2000.
Australia's High Commissioner to Trinidad has non-resident accreditation to Haiti.
Haiti appointed an Honorary Consul in Brisbane in 2019.
Foreign relations
Australia and Haiti are members of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), International Maritime Organisation (IMO), International Monetary Fund (IMF), United Nations (UN), and United Nations organisations.
Haiti is a member of the the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), the Africa, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group of States, the Organization of American States (OAS), Community of Latin American and Caribbean States and other regional organisations.
It is a member of the Small Island Developing States (SIDS) grouping, which includes small island states in the Caribbean, Pacific and Indian Oceans

Public diplomacy
Through the Direct Aid Program (DAP), the Australian Government supports community projects in Haiti. Recent projects have focused on water and sanitation, neonatal care and food security. A Haitian foreign service officer took part in DFAT's 2017 International Graduate Program.
Economic diplomacy
The Australian Government supports Australian investors in Haiti by providing support and advice on political, economic and regulatory environments.

Australia and Haiti are both members of the UN. Haiti is a member of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and several other regional organisations.
