Reporting under the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination

21st and 22nd CERD Report

Australia is a party to the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (CERD). By ratifying a treaty, a country voluntarily accepts legal obligations under international law. Australia's obligations under CERD include regular reporting requirements.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) is currently preparing Australia’s combined 21st and 22nd periodic report to the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD) under the International Convention for the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination.

DFAT is currently welcoming comments on Australia’s draft 21st and 22nd periodic report to the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD), and has invited feedback from civil society organisations.

For more information on Australia’s draft 21st and 22nd periodic report under the International Convention for the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, including to express interest in providing feedback on the draft report as a civil society organisation, please email treatybodyreporting@dfat.gov.au.

Australia will submit its report to the CERD in 2025.
