Cablegram 41 LONDON, 15 July 1937, 9.58 p.m.
SECRET
Despatch 84, Secret, from British Consul-General, Batavia, to
Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs [1], of which copy was sent
to you.
His Majesty's Charge d'Affaires, Tokyo [2], reports that Japanese
representative [3] left for Lisbon late in June to negotiate about
trade in Timor. I should be glad to learn whether His Majesty's
Government in the Commonwealth of Australia desire that any action
should be taken by His Majesty's Ambassador at Lisbon [4] in
connection with any of the suggestions contained in the concluding
paragraph of the despatch under reference.
