Summary of publication

The book is a collection of stories on the transformative and leadership role women play in the aftermath of disasters.

This book was published under the Post Ketsana Recovery Project: Building Resilient Communities implemented by Oxfam with funding support from AusAID.

Presented in this book are inspiring stories of ordinary women from the provinces of Laguna and Rizal who triumphed over tragedy and emerged as leaders in their various capacities following typhoon Ondoy, particularly in the areas of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH). This is just a small collection of countless such experiences that brought forth the critical leadership role that women play during and after a calamity. These are instances resulting in saved lives and the formation of resilient families and communities.
