Description
AusAID commissioned an independent review of Australian aid program support for strengthening political governance in developing countries.
The review:
- confirms the importance of robust parliamentary and electoral processes in building effective relationships between states and citizens
- outlines key findings and issues on Australia's assistance to political governance and makes recommendations relating to support for parliaments, political parties and electoral processes
- assesses the role, mandate and work of the Centre for Democratic Institutions (CDI), including recommendations relating to its future role, and
- provides guiding principles to inform future AusAID political governance work.
