Net exports drive economic growth
Australia's exports underpinned solid economic growth in the March quarter of 2016, contributing a seasonally adjusted 1.1 percentage points to total growth in the quarter, according to the latest ABS data. Mining and travel services led the way, with resources exports up 6.4% and travel services exports up 7.7%.
Kimberley Regional Investment Blueprint launched
The Kimberley Regional Investment Blueprint which identifies investment priorities for the development of the region over the next 20 years has been released. Priorities include leveraging foreign investment, maximising flows of foreign investment capital, and attracting foreign investment for the development of land, ports, transport and processing.

Australia's total trade with ASEAN was worth $56 billion in 2005. A decade later, in 2015, this had risen to $96 billion. In 2015 our major merchandise export was gold and refined petroleum was the major import. The largest services export was education-related travel, while recreational travel was the largest service import.
