Trade Minister invites business leaders on mission to China

Senior Australian business leaders are invited to express interest in participating in a business mission to China this April. Trade Minister Andrew Robb is expected to lead the mission which is part of 'Australia Week in China'. EOIs close 24 February.

WA remained Australia's exporting powerhouse in 2012-13, with its exports accounting for 41% ($122.7 billion) of Australia's total exports. Other highlights from DFAT's report include the NT's 15% growth in trade volumes, a 100% rise in VIC's & NSW's oilseeds exports, and a 46% increase in WA's wheat exports.

3 year business entry visa a boon for Chinese business visitors, tourism and investment

Chinese business visitors are now eligible to apply for a three year multiple entry visa to Australia. This is set to benefit Chinese business visitors, tourism and investment. China is Australia's largest source of business visitors, representing 18.5% of all business visa applications in Q1 of 2013-14.

WTO Director General urges members to get Doha back on track

At the first meeting of WTO ambassadors after the Bali Ministerial Conference in December, WTO DG Roberto Azevêdo has urged WTO members to build on the momentum from Bali to put the Doha round back on track. "Bali represents not just a huge achievement but also a huge opportunity" said Mr Azevêdo.

Strong SME business confidence signals favourable investment environment

Business confidence among Small to Medium Enterprises in Australia rose 21% in the last quarter of 2013, according to the Sensis® Business Index. "This surge in confidence has signalled that the investment environment has become more favourable in 2014" said Austrade's Head of Investment, Jane Madden.
