Minister Robb met with tourism stakeholders in Cairns on Tuesday to discuss how international investment can develop infrastructure in the region. Cairns' reputation as a world-class tourist destination, combined with increasing visitors from Asia, provides a unique opportunity to grow the city's tourism industry.

An annual report on Australian women in business has found that 62% of Australia's global businesswomen are baby boomers. China was the most important target market for 34% of women surveyed, up from 18% in 2013.
UK industrial technology company opens new lab in Western Australia
British industrial technology specialist Tracerco has opened new laboratory facilities in Perth. "Australia is an area of growing strategic importance for Tracerco so we want to make our service the most accessible and efficient it can be here," said Tracerco's Managing Director for the Australasian region, Ken Pearson.
Fiji joins Australia's Seasonal Worker Program
Fiji is the 10th country to join Australia's Seasonal Worker Program. The program benefits employers in Australia who face labour gaps and Fijian workers who gain experience and short-term employment. The program creates jobs, boosts incomes and contributes to economic development in the region.
APEC Ministers unveil plan to spur internet-driven growth
Telecommunications and Information Ministers from the 21 APEC members have unveiled a new plan to maximise the potential of the internet to drive growth in their economies. APEC is the world's largest producing and consuming region of information and communications technology.
The US and UK lead global economic growth
Economists at the Peterson Institute for International Economics are forecasting slow growth for the global economy in 2015 despite the United States, the United Kingdom, and India having favourable economic outlooks. Economic growth is expected to be 2.7% in the US this year and 2.8% in the UK.
New York to host 9th round of TTIP Negotiations
The ninth round of US-EU negotiations on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) agreement will take place in New York from April 20-24. Negotiating teams will discuss the full range of TTIP issues. Collectively, the US and EU account for nearly half of total global GDP.
