What sort of data can DFAT provide?
DFAT offers detailed trade and investment data on Australia and the rest of the world. We can also provide general economic and socioeconomic statistics for a number of countries.
We have access to data from a wide range of sources including:
- Australia's official trade records
- trade records from more than 200 other countries and regions, covering more than 90 per cent of worldwide trade
- statistics sourced from more than 100 offices and bodies including the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund and the World Trade Organization.
Simple enquiries can usually be handled over the phone. We provide more detailed data by email, although printed copies can be supplied on request.
What sort of data can't DFAT provide?
Please note that DFAT cannot provide the names, addresses or any other details about exporting or importing companies/entities.
How long does it take?
Most requests are completed in less than 48 hours. However, this depends on the nature of your enquiry and the number of other requests we are processing.
Does it cost anything?
Most data requests incur a fee to cover costs.
