Bushfire support for small businesses, National Bushfire Recovery Agency
On 11 March 2020, the Australian Government boosted help available for bushfire-affected small businesses. The package offers new initiatives to help local economies recover faster and cuts to red tape to simplify access to existing assistance programs.
New assistance includes $10,000 grants for small businesses in selected fire-affected Local Government Areas, as determined by state governments. To be eligible, revenue must have dropped by 40 per cent over a three-month period, compared to the previous year, directly or indirectly because of the bushfires.
Applications opened in the week of 16 March 2020. You can apply through your state government.

The Government is also committed to making the application processes easier with changes coming soon. Small business owners will be able to get help filling in application forms for bushfire support from extra staff in Recovery Centres. The centres provide a ‘one-stop-shop’ for small business owners to ensure they have access to expert support.
