Former Australia-Malaysia Institute
The Australia-Malaysia Institute has transitioned into the Australia-ASEAN Council (AAC). The Council will support broader engagement with all countries across South-East Asia and strengthen links between Australia and the peoples of South-East Asia. It will build on the strong partnerships established under the AMI and will maintain links with AMI alumni.
About the Australia-Malaysia Institute
The Australia-Malaysia Institute was established in 2005 to strengthen people-to-people and institutional links with Malaysia and to deepen mutual understanding and cooperation between Australia and Malaysia.
The AMI is a wholly Australian initiative and is funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. The Institute works with institutions and individuals in Australia and Malaysia to achieve its objectives. The Institute also seeks to enter into strategic alliances with possible sponsors and partners to enhance its programs.
The Australia-Malaysia Institute is presided over by a Board appointed by the Minister for Foreign Affairs.
The Institute is supported by a Secretariat which is located in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Canberra.
