Study in Korea

Korean universities welcome foreign students, offering courses in both English and Korean across a range of disciplines. Korean universities are highly regarded internationally for both teaching standards and research achievements. The Korean Government's website for foreign students lists 485 universities and colleges offering a wide range of courses. The websites of 12 universities with close relationships with Australia are provided below. Close linkages between universities and industry can facilitate the arrangement of satisfying internships.

Seoul is an exciting, vibrant place to live blending strong traditions and the latest technology. The short videos created by recent AKF Media Interns provide an insight into life in Seoul, as do their entertaining and informative blogs.

The international Korean Wave, or Hallyu, has reached Australia with the recent popularity of K-pop, Gangnam-style dance, Korean dramas and fashion building on earlier interest in Taekwondo, Korean BBQ and Kimchi. Australia's popular Dami Im ("X-factor") and B‑boy Blond ("So you think you can dance") are among the more than 88,000 Australians of Korean ancestry.

Korea has emerged in recent years as one of Asia's most robust and vibrant democracies. The country has revived its rich cultural heritage and its artists are making strong, distinctly Korean contributions to worldwide culture. Australia and Korea have a close relationship, economically and politically as well as through people-to-people links. Studying and working in Korea can strengthen professional opportunities for Australians.

Korean Government's Study in Korea website provides information on courses and application forms as well as cultural and history information about Korea. Visa information is available through the Korean Embassy and www.mofa.go.kr.
