Project description

The Japan Update is the flagship conference of the Australia-Japan Research Centre (AJRC) in Crawford School of Public Policy, and the Japan Institute at The Australian National University. Bringing together experts from Australia, Japan and around the region, the Japan Update provides a comprehensive overview of Japan's current economic and political landscape, gives an 'update' on the country's recent developments and forecasts its future directions. The 2019 Japan Update will focus on Japan's economy, politics and foreign policy, and the Australia-Japan relationship. A number of distinguished and prominent scholars will share their insights and latest research on Japan, including:

Rumi Aoyama, Professor at the Graduate School of Asia-Pacific Studies at Waseda University.

Kiichi Fujiwara, Director of the Policy Alternatives Research Institute and Professor at the University of Tokyo.

Takashi Kozu, Corporate Vice President of Ricoh Company Ltd. and Head of the Ricoh Institute of Sustainability and Business.

Mariko Sakakibara, Professor of Policy at the Anderson School of Management at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
