Project description

The two-day conference will have special lectures, two panels, some sessions for paper presentation by the members both of the ASAJ and the CAAS, and a workshop for Japanese and Chinese post-graduate students. Panel 1, entitled 'Australia in Asia, Asia in Australia', will shed light on the interactions between Australia and Asia through human and cultural exchanges. Panel 2, entitled 'Multicultural Society and Art: The Forefront of Cultural Creation in Australia', will explore the current situation and dynamism of art and cultural creativity in Australia. A documentary film 'The Baulkham Hills African Ladies Troupe', of which Japanese subtitles were produced by the students of Aoyama Gakuin University, is planned to be screened. The workshop for post-graduate students will be open to young scholars of the ASAJ and the CAAS, as well as those of Aoyama Gakuin University, where they will present their academic works and exchange opinions.
