Project description

Sikh Youth Australia Inc's project will see three eminent Indian-Australian women deliver a series of seminars to empower women from the Indian diaspora in Australia. The events are aimed at empowering young female leaders to understand, recognise and learn from the abundance of 'non-traditional' opportunities to find success. They will demonstrate how community leadership can be cultivated to empower young Indian immigrant professionals to understand advocacy and development pathways. These events will feature: Uppma Virdi, also known as 'Chai Walli' a successful tea entrepreneur, named in 2016 as the Indian Australia Business and Community Awards' Business Woman of the Year and on the Forbes 30 under 30 list; Sukhjit Kaur Khalsa, spoken word artist and Australia's Got Talent finalist; and from New York, Sapreet Kaur, Executive Director of the Sikh Coalition.
