Project description

Twenty years ago 'Late Night Live' travelled to India for a series of programs. Since that time the country has taken enormous leaps, socially, economically and politically, but Western media has by and large failed to keep up with those changes. For this new series of programs ABC's Radio National will return to India to capture its many challenges and attempts at balancing tradition and modernity. They will talk to political and economic experts, as well as authors, film makers, activists and historians about everything from the so called beef wars to the effects of demonetisation, from the environmental price of development to pop culture's effect on societal norms. Lively, authoritative and wide ranging, this project will present a portrait of contemporary India.
