Bringing China closer to Australia through exhibitions – Terracotta Army

In September 1983 – less than ten years after they were discovered in rural Shaanxi – nine figures from the Qin emperor's Terracotta Army were displayed in Canberra as part of a national tour attracting nearly one million visitors around Australia to see the display. The Australia-China Council sponsored Film Australia to produce a television documentary for broadcast on Channel Ten, helping promote awareness of the exhibition.
