Federal government focus on building economic links to Asia
Greg Earl, Board Member for the Australia-ASEAN Council reports from the backroads of regional Australia.
This is a different kind of trade success story, as regional governments create their own tailor-made connections with Asia.
Recently, in August the Australia-ASEAN Council hosted a three day visit to Toowoomba. The ASEAN Ambassadors and High Commissioners were impressed with the ambitions plans of the Toowoomba region to become a trade hub. Investments in air and land infrastructure, business parks and data centres combined with intellectual capital of the University of Southern Queensland and local business have helped to make Toowoomba a centre of innovation in the trade of food and agriculture.
