MIKTA Foreign Ministers’ Joint Statement on the 2018 Inter-Korean Summit

30 April 2018

Foreign Ministers from Mexico, Indonesia, the Republic of Korea, Turkey and Australia (MIKTA) welcome the 2018 Inter-Korean Summit successfully held at the Peace House in the southern part of Panmunjom, Korea, on April 27. The Summit was a great opportunity to lay stepping stones towards complete denuclearization and permanent peace on the Korean Peninsula, as well as progress inter-Korean relations.

It is our sincere hope that the inter-Korean Summit will also serve as a guide for the success of the following US-North Korea Summit.

We also express our aspiration that the 2018 Inter-Korean Summit and the US-North Korea Summit will turn out to be milestones for the peaceful resolution of the North Korean nuclear issue and the establishment of permanent peace on the Korean Peninsula.
