Awards in evaluation excellence

DFAT’s Office of Development Effectiveness (ODE) took out the 2016 Award for Excellence in Public Sector Evaluation from the Australasian Evaluation Society (AES) for its Evaluation of the Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP).

This was the second time in three years that ODE won the AES Public Sector Evaluation Award (in 2014 ODE won the Award for Excellence for the Evaluation of Australian Volunteers for International Development).

The award acknowledged the great work of ODE and their partners in the evaluation including DFAT NGOs and Volunteers Branch and the ACFID Development Practice Committee, which fulfilled the role of reference group. Oversight from DFAT’s Independent Evaluation Committee contributed to the rigour and quality of the evaluation. The evaluation findings (and process itself) have improved the program and its associated policies, and the partnering arrangements between DFAT and the NGO sector.
