Deputy Head of Mission, Vietnam
Mark Tattersall is a senior career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. He was most recently Assistant Secretary, Aid Management and Performance. He was lead author of Australia's 2020 development policy, Partnerships for Recovery, and from 2018-19 coordinated Australia's humanitarian respose efforts in the Indo-Pacific, including to Cyclone Gita in Tonga, the 2018 PNG earthquake and the Thai Cave Rescue.
Mark returned to DFAT in 2017 after three years seconded to the World Bank in Washington DC as Advisor to the Executive Director. Prior to this he held a range of positions in the former AusAID, including A/g Assistant Director General Afghanistan Branch and Executive Officer, Office of the Director General. He was posted to Pakistan from 2008-09 and previously worked in Vanuatu in the NGO sector.
Mark holds a Masters Degree in International Social Development from the University of New South Wales and Arts and Commerce Degrees with First Class Honours in History from the University of Sydney. He is married with two children.
