Dr Joanne Loundes

Dr Loundes is a senior career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. She has served overseas as Ambassador to Iraq, Deputy Head of Mission at the Australian Embassy in Afghanistan and First Secretary (Trade and Economic) at the Australian Embassy in Japan.

She was also DFAT’s inaugural Chief Economist (Trade and Investment).Prior to joining the Department, she worked at the University of Melbourne and the Reserve Bank of Australia. Dr Loundes holds a PhD from the University of Melbourne.
