Biography of Ian McConville
Ian McConville, the Chief of Protocol, is a senior career officer of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. He was most recently Deputy Ambassador in the Australian Embassy in Seoul.
He has previously served as Deputy Permanent Representative to the Conference on Disarmament, Geneva (2013-2017), High Commissioner to Nigeria (2010-2012), and High Commissioner to Mauritius (2004-2007). His earlier postings include Phnom Penh and Islamabad.
Mr McConville holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts from Monash University, a Graduate Diploma in Foreign Affairs and Trade from the Australian National University, and a Master of Arts from Monash University. He was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria in 1990.
