United Nations Security Council Sanctions

What are the obligations on persons and entities in Australia, Australian citizens overseas and Australian entities overseas?

Persons and entities in Australia must abide by all domestic legislation implementing United Nations Security Council Sanctions.  Regulations under the Charter of the United Nations Act clarify that this obligations extends to Australian citizens overseas and Australian entities operating overseas.

Australian persons and entities, or foreign persons and entities in Australia, should familiarise themselves with the operation of Australia’s sanctions regimes and seek independent legal advice before commencing commercial activities which may be affected by sanctions regimes.
