Services key focus of Trade Minister's US visit

Services will be a key focus of Trade Minister Andrew Robb’s visit to the US this week. The Minister will participate in the Global Services Summit and meet with government and business figures on the WTO, the TPP and Trade in Services Agreement. The services sector generates close to 70% of Australian GDP.

Australian tourism industry on track for growth

Trade Minister Andrew Robb outlined the government’s plans to support the tourism industry during a tourism conference in Canberra. Mr Robb stated the Government’s commitment to “freeze the Passenger Movement Charge, scrap the Carbon Tax and help employers find workers with the right skills”.

Tourism Report: International visitor arrivals to hit 7 million by 2014-15

International visitor arrivals to Australia are forecast to grow 5.6% in 2014-15 to 7 million, propelled by growth in Asian markets including China and Malaysia. The Tourism Research Australia report also forecasts Australian outbound departures will grow 2.9% in 2014-2015 to 9.1 million.

WTO releases 2012 trade and tariff data

The WTO has released its annual package of trade and tariff data which provides a comprehensive overview of trade developments in 2012. A publication dedicated to trade in services has been released for the first time while another publication has been expanded to measure trade from global value chains.
