The growing importance of Australia-India trade
Australia exported $11.3 billion of goods and services to India last year. It is Australia’s seventh largest export market, and two way trade between India and Australia has grown rapidly – averaging 28.1 percent growth a year for the past five years. The Trade Minister, Simon Crean, met with the Indian Minister for Commerce and Industry, Kamal Nath, in Melbourne recently for annual bilateral trade discussions. Mr Crean said, “It is in Australia’s national interest that our economic links with India continue to broaden”.
The rise and rise of Australian education
Did you know that education is now Australia's third largest export? Surpassed only by coal and iron ore, education exports have been growing at an average annual rate of 16 per cent per annum over the last 15 years. Australian education exports were $12.2 billion in 2007.
