Review of Export Policies and Programs: report released

22 September 2008

Minister for Trade, Simon Crean, has released the report of the independent Review of Export Policies and Programs undertaken by Mr David Mortimer AO and Dr John Edwards – the most comprehensive review of Australia's approach to trade and international investment in more than a decade.

The Review contains more than 70 recommendations on trade and investment policy and export promotion programs for consideration by the Government.

Mr Crean said that the report would provide important input into government consideration of the future direction of Australia’s trade policies and programs.

Mr Crean also tabled in Parliament an assessment of the Export Market Development Grants (EMDG) scheme undertaken concurrently with the Review.
