Corporate and Financial Management Trainees
Stage 1: Application
Applications for the Corporate and Financial Management Trainee Program should be submitted through our on-line application system. Applications will be accepted from 2 March – 8 April 2009. We do not accept applications outside these dates.
Stage 2: Written Test
Approximately 40 applicants will be invited to complete a written test.
The written test will be held online on Saturday 9 May 2009. Candidates will need to ensure they have access to a computer and reliable internet access to complete the test. Alternative arrangements may be made for candidates who are unable to gain reliable computer/internet access.
Candidates will be asked to prepare a briefing paper in response to a hypothetical scenario. The test is designed to help us assess your writing skills, analytical and problem-solving abilities and your general knowledge of corporate and financial management issues.

Stage 3: Interviews
Approximately 20 applicants will be invited to attend an interview and to complete an online psychometric test. The psychometric test is not a clinical tool but helps us to assess your suitability for the job.
Interviews take place in Canberra in June. The department will pay for those candidates selected for interview to travel within Australia to Canberra, but candidates living overseas at the time will be required to return to Australia at their own expense.
All offers of employment are subject to a security clearance. If you are short-listed to the interview stage of the selection process you will need to complete and submit the department's security clearance forms.
Stage 4: Offers
Offers of employment will be made in July. Successful candidates who accept this offer will then be required to undertake medical and security clearances. They will start work in the department the following February.
