Duty Statement
In keeping with the Australian Public Service (APS) Values and the APS Code of Conduct:
- Provide advice and support to assist in achieving the department’s objectives in foreign and trade policy and corporate management (including consular or passport services).
- Assist with research, analysis, project work and/or administration.
- Administer human, financial, IT, property and/or other resources.
- Assist with representation, liaison and negotiation on behalf of the department.
Note: DFAT employees must demonstrate exemplary standards of integrity and professionalism at all times. Applicants in DFAT selection processes will be scrutinised in this regard.
Selection Criteria
A. Ability to make sound judgements and
assist in producing outcomes which advance the
department’s objectives in policy development and
implementation, and/or corporate management and client
services.
B. Assist in administering human,
financial and other resources effectively to meet policy
objectives.
C. Ability to take initiative,
respond to challenges and set priorities. Ability to
adapt to different work environments.
D. Strong oral and written communication
skills, including effectiveness in day-to-day consultation,
liaison and negotiation. Strong interpersonal skills and
ability to build productive working relationships.
Note: Applicants must be Australian citizens to be eligible for engagement and the successful applicants will undergo a comprehensive security assessment. Employment in the department is dependent on an employee gaining a valid security clearance. Loss of a security clearance at any time will lead to termination of employment.
