Sutan Sjahrir, ex-Premier Indonesia, is reported to have left Paris on 27th October for Cairo whence his intention is to leave for Australia.

2. Please ascertain Sjahrir's movements and likely date of his arrival in Australia. He should be informed that he will be cordially welcomed at Canberra.

3. Sjahrir should be given every assistance. [1]

1 Steele replied on 8 November that Sjahrir would leave Cairo on 10 November for New Delhi where he proposed to inform Mackay of his probable date of arrival in Australia.
