His Majesty has approved of the appointment of person named, and His Majesty's Ambassador at Washington [2] was instructed yesterday to approach the United States Government as desired in your telegram No. 193 [3], and to arrange direct with you for simultaneous announcement in Australia and United States.

1 Not printed (see PRO: FO 372/3319). It reported that formal approval of R.G. Casey's appointment to Washington could not be obtained for a few days until King George VI returned from France.
