Funding for international arts and cultural projects


The Australia International Cultural Council (AICC) Grants Program provides funding for international arts and cultural projects that align with the objectives of the AICC. The AICC Grants Program supports activities in AICC priority regions and focus countries, which reflect Australia's broad public diplomacy and foreign and trade policy interests. Applications should be for cultural diplomacy projects incorporating activities in priority regions and/or focus countries.

The AICC Grants Program for Round 8 has closed. The Secretariat extends its gratitude to all applicants for taking the time to submit their projects to this funding round.

Grants Program – Round 8

Round 8 of the AICC Grants Program will support 16 projects that will engage and inspire audiences and artists in Asia, the Americas and Europe.

Indonesia Tasdance (TAS) The Tasmania-Indonesia Dance Exchange (TIDE) project by contemporary dance company Tasdance delivers a range of performing arts programs to Indonesian youth in association with Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) in Padangpanjang, West Sumatra. $6,600
Brazil Snuff Puppets (VIC) Snuff Puppets will collaborate with a number of Brazilian street theatre artists for a period of six weeks to produce a new show to be premiered at the 2015 Festival Internacional de Teatro de Rua de Porto Alegre $44,000
United States of America, the Netherlands Museum and Gallery Services Queensland Limited (QLD) Museum and Gallery Services Queensland will tour Saltwater Country, a major exhibition by contemporary Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists to the USA and the Netherlands $18,700
Indonesia Multicultural Arts Victoria Inc (VIC) Multicultural Arts Victoria will produce a creative exchange and collaboration between Australian and Asian artists called Street|Life - a robotics, mechatronics, film, culture and community engagement project in Indonesia and Australia. $31,900
Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Brazil, Mexico Australian Dance Theatre (SA) Australian Dance Theatre will tour the contemporary dance production of ‘G’ across Latin America.  $44,000
Turkey ARTEK Productions Pty Ltd (VIC) The project will include the presentation of the contemporary Opera 'Three Women in War'; a photographic multimedia exhibition; and publication of an historic book on 'Gallipoli - The untold story of women in war' (also translated into Turkish). It will be presented during the Centenary Commemorations in 2015. $37,000 (GST not applicable)
Indonesia Big Stories Co. (SA) Big Stories Co. will deliver the Big Stories, Small Towns project in two towns in Indonesia.  Big Stories is a cross media project gathering local stories for a global audience $29,700
Japan Polyglot Theatre (VIC) Kodomo Tachi Ga Shikiru (Kids Are The Boss) is a cultural exchange project between Polyglot Theatre, Minamisanriku and Acchicocchi theatre company will involve workshops resulting in a community installation in the Minamisanriku community that was devastated by the 2011 Tsunami. $33,000
Brazil Circus Oz (VIC) Circus Oz, together with David Lieberman Artists’ Representatives, will present a uniquely Australian form of contemporary circus to Sao Paulo in Brazil. $38,500
China Black Arm Band (VIC) Black Arm Band will tour it’s the music theatre production "dirtsong" to six performing arts centers across China. $39,600
Indonesia Melbourne Writers Festival (VIC) The Emerging Writers' Festival, Melbourne Writers Festival and Ubud Writers & Readers Festival will collaborate to deliver Jalan Jalan - a multi-tiered touring, presentation, residency and digital engagement program for emerging and established Australian and Indonesian writers. $33,000
Indonesia Mainteater/ Multicultural Arts Victoria(VIC) Three Australian performers will collaborate with Sundanese (West Javanese) literary cult figure Godi Suwarna, actor Wawan Sofwan and bamboo installation artist Deden Bulqini to develop and present multilingual cross art form performance ‘Urat Jagat (Veins of the Universe)’ in West Java. $27,500
China Australian Art Orchestra (VIC) The Australian Art Orchestra’s ‘WATER PUSHES SAND’ will explore the connections between folk music and operatic traditions of China’s Sichuan Province and contemporary Australian improvisational music in collaboration with musicians from the Sichuan Conservatory of Music. $38,500
United Kingdom, France Belvoir (NSW) Belvoir's ‘The Wild Duck’ tour to the Barbican Centre in London and Théâtre Nanterre-Amandiers in Paris. $38,500 (GST not applicable)
Germany, France, the Netherlands Chunky Move (VIC) Chunky Move will tour ‘Complexity of Belonging’ - a new international collaboration - to France, Germany and the Netherlands. Chunky Move Artistic Director, Anouk van Dijk combines forces with one of Europe's most important theatrical voices Falk Richter and Australian dancers and actors in this international collaboration $30,800
France Lucy Guerin Inc (VIC) Lucy Guerin Inc will present ‘Weather’ at the Theatre de la Ville Paris, as part of a two week residency at the prestigious theatre in Abbesses. $22,000
