Australia-Indonesia Institute Announces Recipients of Journalist Scholarship Program
The Australia-Indonesia Institute (AII) has awarded three scholarships to Ginny Stein (ABC), Sian Powell (The Australian) and Nick Gentle (Canberra Times) to study Indonesian language and culture in-country under its Journalist Scholarship Program. The scholarships are for working Australian journalists and aims to increase their understanding of Indonesia. Each scholarship is worth $5,000. Recipients will take up the scholarships in the first half of 2002.
The Australia-Indonesia Institute is an Australian government-funded organisation established in 1989 to strengthen relations and promote greater understanding between the peoples of Australia and Indonesia through a broad range of activities.
Applications for the 2002-2003 Journalist Scholarship Program will be advertised in September 2002.
